From the Captain Garry McKechnie 09/03/06

The overnight passage to the Swains Reefs is difficult at first motor-sailing upwind. Gradually however the wind veers into the southeast and by early morning we are sailing comfortably at 8 to 10 knots. We arrive late afternoon at reef 21554 (there are so many reefs here, many have numbers rather than names) about 5 miles west of Gannet Cay in the Swains. We drop anchor in about 12 metres and do some snorkling on the reef before dinner and bed.
